Wokotote was the only Japanese restaurant to debut in The Michelin Guide Tokyo 2025 with a Bib Gourmand. On Sundays only they do a short omakase lunch course at JPY 3,200.There's only one chef so there might be some gaps in the meal but service comes with a smile from okami-san and with counter and table seating you can sit wherever you feel comfortable. The standard of cooking is not much better than that of a good home-cooked meal but the quality of ingredients is better than what you can buy in the supermarket. Not really worth going out of your way for but the Yanaka area is close and for a cheap and decent lunch on a Sunday I would go back.
(Side note) I haven't seen a public statement of this for a few years but the criteria for Bib Gourmand was restaurants having a "menu" of JPY 6,000 or less. Prices at Wokotote rose by 20% from 1st September 2024 so the cheapest dinner course is now JPY 7,500. One assumes that was too late for the restaurant to be pulled from the October publication of The Guide but as it no longer qualifies, unless Michelin raises the cap, I'd expect Wokotote to be moved to "Selected" in 2026 or deleted.
