If Tom Dixon did an interior for Yoshinoya it might look something like this (official picture).  Unfortunately that's as much that can be said that's nice about this restaurant.

There are lots of options on the menu, mainly around curry and stew.  I chose the kuroge wagyu mixed stew which purportedly contains 120g of wagyu and 150g of tongue.

Well there was plenty of meat and but the sauce tasted mainly of red wine and tomato and didn't have the rich and deep beefy flavour I wanted.  It felt like the sauce had been cooked separately from the meat, rather than all together so it could all infuse.  Indeed, on my way out I noticed sauce being decanted from vacuum packs.

Tom Dixon definitely didn't supply the tissue boxes, which were baby wipe dispensers.

Appetizing.

You'll need to navigate a Japanese-only vending machine to order, which only took cash on my visit, and all JPY 6,600 of it for this meal.  I get that Japanese beef is expensive but if you don't know how to make a proper stew in the first place even the best beef in the World will not compensate.

For a mountain of excellent tongue stew that'll only cost you JPY 1,000, head over to Tankiyo.
