Prés de L'AS

The second sister restaurant to L'AS (Cork was the first). It's been super popular from day one. The regular lunch menu is JPY 5,300 while on weekdays a shorter lunch menu is available at JPY 3,800. No service charge is taken but they charge a 550 yen seat fee and you're required to order a drink. (As inflation bites, restaurants are finding more and more ways of keeping the headline price down and making up the revenue by other means.)![]() |
Amuse-Bouche |
Mozzarella is the cheap kind, as is the olive oil. Good thing it's smaller than a marble. 3/10.

Fresh Avocado and Raw Shrimp Cocktail with Coconut Milk, Avocado Puree Sauce Flavored Lemon |
I don't really like avocado or mayonnaise so not gonna like avocado mayo in an avocado. It's better with the salt but there isn't enough of that. If the shrimp have any flavour they are crowded out by everything else. 3/10.

Cold Pot-au-feu Style of Seasonal Vegetables From Chiba Prefecture With Tomato and Beets Soup |
The veg are too cold, as is the sauce which is too vinegary. The veg are reasonable quality but it might be better if they just served raw veg with that avocado mayo from earlier. 4/10.

Snow Crab on Bread with Crab Miso, Egg Yolk and Grana Padano Creamy Sauce |
With the regular menu you get both the wagyu roast beef and crab French toast. With the weekday menu you have to choose. The waiter recommends the latter. It's not bad. A good amount of crab meat which you can actually taste. The sauces are good. But still, it just somehow feels wrong. 7/10.
Anyone with a sweet tooth loves a dessert trolley. Unfortunately, you only get one choice of cake and one choice of macaron.
Tiramisu is mild in flavour. There's too much cream for me and I can't finish it. A generous 6.
Five for the macaron, which is too sweet.
Your 550 cover charge doesn't extend to a slice of bread (charged at 220 yen per piece). As everything else was so bad, I didn't risk it.
The regular course includes tea. I ask for coffee for my one drink, and it ain't great either.
It's a nice space. Top of a new building, natural light from floor to ceiling windows on multiple sides. Just about every table is occupied, it's relatively noisy, all hard furnishings and it's 99% female. I go at last order time so service is swift and I'm out in a flash. Any earlier and I know I'll be made to wait. The server is upbeat and has excellent English. He's the best thing about the meal.
As always, popularity isn't a measure of excellence and it was a good reality check on early Tabelog reviewers who rate every new place 4.0+.
