Tri-lingual menus are available in PDF on their website. I chose the second-cheapest 8k lunch course menu which comes with two extra dishes over the cheapest 6k lunch.First up cold tofu skin and mushroom - very unpleasant. Next a selection of cold appetizers, a definite improvement over the first plate. Next jiaozi and shark fin soup. This was a little sweet. After that the dim sum: spring roll, turnip cake, vegetable dumpling, prawn dumpling. These were served without a side plate and just soy sauce. Next stir-fried beef. The sauce was like baked pork chop rice sauce but the beef itself just tasted of good quality Japanese beef as if it had been cooked separately and just dropped into the sauce. Next scallop and vegetables. The scallop was not the best quality and just frying something with scallions and ginger doesn't make it Chinese. The last of the savoury dishes was soup noodles and pak choi. The greens and noodles were great, the noodles not like the rubber band version you get in cheap places. The soup was not as sweet as the earlier soup but still only just OK. The dessert was the final disappointment, almond tofu (which I love) but the thin, watery type (which I don't).
The food came out fast and I often didn't have time to write proper notes between courses. Staff were pleasant but not particularly sharp and English was poor.
It was almost the exact opposite of everything I was promised and the last time I'll ever trust Japan Times.
