Kenta Miura started his career at 2-Star Kikunoi where he worked for 13 years.  He then moved with Hidefumi Namba from Sushi Namba in Asagaya to Sushi Namba Hibiya (review here) when it opened in 2018, spending a year there until he opened his own restaurant in Azabu-Juban.  In April 2023 he relocated it to Akasaka.

Only one omakase course is available, now priced at JPY 27,000.  My meal consisted of 7 tsumami, 11 nigiri, owan and tamago.  All the tsumami were excellent.  Portions were large, the cooking of the tsumami was to the level of a very good kaiseki restaurant and there was creativity in dishes like sawara nanban-yakiAnkimo was not trimmed to the extent it is at Sushi Namba but you got a larger portion and it was excellent.  The kohada was a highlight: big and fatty.  The kuruma ebi was super sweet.  Shirao is bitter and I don't think it works well as nigiri, even when the fish are boiled.  The torotaku was a little cold for me.

Miura-san doesn't speak English but his assistant could speak some and introduce all the sushi in English.  I was the only Japanese-speaking person at this rotation.  Miura-san took a while to warm up but ended up being quite nice and engaged with me.  The atmosphere was pretty relaxed and the restaurant was warm in winter.

Miura-san is doing his own thing and other than maybe the ankimo there was nothing in the set that made me think of Sushi Namba, so don't go expecting that.  But this was excellent sushi at a reasonable price, easy to reserve and the course didn't take too long.

  1. Hello, have you been to Sushi Zai before? What do you think of it? And if not, have you heard good things about it? Thanks!

    1. Yes, twice, many years ago. It was good but less good value now and I couldn't stand the sommelier repeatedly asking me if I wanted another drink when I hadn't finished the one I was on :)

  2. Did you feel this meal was worth double the price of your lunch at Yukinari? Apparently Yukinari's closed for a bit but will look to go soon when it reopens.

    1. He's re-opened in Aoyama. Updated my review. Well it's a lot more food and higher quality. Dinner at Yukinari is the same price as Miura. I wouldn't be ready to drop that kind of cash at Yukinari just yet, but I'm definitely going to go back for the omakase lunch.

  3. Hello. I was researching for sushi restaurant for my incoming trip when I found your blog and it helps me tremendously. Thank you for many great posts!

If you wouldn't mind, I would like to hear your personal opinion on restaurants I'm considering booking for my trip in December, which are Chiba Takaoka, Sushi Miura, and Sushi Oku (due to my late preparation I am left with few choices). Which one would you recommend for dinner in term of the food quality and cost? Me and my friend's main interest is the sushi part of the meal, but since it's my friend's first trip to Japan I think they'll be more than happy with good tsumami. Also if you have other recommended restaurants I would love to hear as well (I can speak Japanese so any restaurant that requires Japanese speaking/phone booking is fine). Thank you in advance!

    1. For clarification I am looking to book only one restaurant (sorry for my bad English) at the price range of 20,000 - 40,000 yen.

    2. Thank you for your comment. All of those are decent choices. Sushi Miura is the only one I'd go back to though.

    3. Thank you for your reply. I think we'll follow your recommendation then :) Also I found your post on Sushi Yuuki today and it looks very interesting. How does it compare to Sushi Miura? Do you think it'll be a fine place for people who never eat Jiro style sushi like us?

    4. Hard to compare since I've never had Yuuki's tsumami. Both are definitely worth a visit.

  4. Hello! Long time follower but first time interacting! I am going on a spontaneous trip with my partner to celebrate his birthday, and there are still spaces at Nishiazabu Taku, ่”ตๅ…ญ้›„ๅฑฑ, and Sushi Miura.
Would you happen to know about the other two restaurants? The Nishiazabu Taku wine-pairing seems sexy, but after your review, Miura does seem like a solid choice. Thanks in advance!
