Premier Mai opened in May 2021 and has a menu of dishes based around toast. Bread is supplied by Sugoi Pan. I went on a chilly weekday morning arriving at about 8:15am. There were plenty of seats free at a counter and large sharing table equipped with charging ports. Windows were open, so the restaurant was a bit cold. There is no printed menu so you need a smartphone to view this online. However, instead of placing your order online you then have to walk over to a side counter where a member of staff will input your order into a machine and take payment by card only. Why can't they do this at your seat? The counter overlooks a teppan so if you sit there you can see the entire cooking process. The food was ready in about 9 minutes. I chose French toast with salad. The French toast was very good, much better than at Ivorish over the other side of Yoyogi Park. But you're required to order a drink so in total it came to JPY 2,200. That's a bit expensive. The cheapest item on the menu is JPY 1,200 so whatever you order it's going to cost the best part of 2K. I understand the restaurant has to make money but if you go to No.4 in Yotsuya you can have a good French toast for 980 yen and you don't have to order a drink. It's a similar story at Egg Baby Cafe which serves one of the best and most filling French toasts I know of for just 935 yen. Or you can go to
If you're nearby and looking for an overpriced slice of comfort then you'll find it here.
